Dear Tom and Ray:
I have an idea that I think would improve car safety and people's driving. Why don't cars have brake lights on the front? Think about it -- if you're in the middle of an intersection waiting to turn left, a car is coming towards you, and the light turns yellow, it would be extremely helpful to know if the other driver is coming to a stop or trying to make the light. This information also could help you make a decision at stop signs, when you think someone's about to rear-end your car. I haven't worked out all the wrinkles, but I think the front brake lights could be a steady, brighter display of both turn signals at the same time (kind of like the back brake lights). Or, they could be a different color. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the subject. Those of us who are trying to be good drivers can use all the information about other drivers we can get!
Melissa
Tom: Front brake lights. Not a bad idea, Melissa!
Ray: Actually, I've been working on a similar idea; rear headlights. Then I could blind those idiots who drive behind me with their high beams on.
Spending a little money now on "preventive maintenance" can save you big
