Dear Tom and Ray:

I have a 1991 Toyota Camry with a six cylinder engine. I am anticipating touring Montreal and Quebec with my car, and am wondering about the gasoline and oil in Canada. I use premium (91 octane) gas and API grade S-G motor oil. Will I find this up there? If not, what do I use in Canada? Mitzi

Tom: Last time I was there, Mitzi, most people in Canada were still using sled dogs. But I hear they've got cars now.

Ray: Actually, the automotive market in Canada is very similar to that of the United States. You see most of the same cars, and find basically the same gasolines and oils.

Tom: The only difference is that gas is sold by the liter in Canada, so you'll want to learn the metric system before you go, and it costs about twice as much as it does here.

Ray: Which explains the motto on Quebec's licence plates: "TK." That's french for "Gas Up at the Border."
