GM showed us the upcoming replacement for the Chevy Cavalier (our previous review: real cheap crap). The new small Chevy is called the Cobalt, shown here in, well, not cobalt.
Looks nice enough. They wouldn't let us get near enough to actually see the inside. But we ran into GM's Head of Product Development, Bob Lutz, and he assured us that the driving dynamics and the interior would be significant upgrades over the Cavalier.
Well, it certainly looks better in the photos! We'll have to see how it drives and what kind of quality and reliability it shows. GM has a long way to go to regain the confidence of the small-car-buying-public, after selling the outdated Cavalier for so many years. But we'd certainly be happy if GM had a compact car we could recommend in good conscience.
