I've been going to this garage for 15 years. All repairs have been made and I've not had to return for the same repair again. They have turned down work as it's not worth my money. Example: When the valves went out on an old VW, they said it wasn't worth the money they would have to charge me to fix it. They have even come out to check out a small problem and fixed it on the spot and not charged me.

My Mazda 323 failed to start and the local Pep Boys said it had lost compression on #1 cylinder. I called Tapp and reported what they'd said the compression numbers were, and the mechanic there said, "That doesn't make sense." He was right; the cylinders were fine, but the timing belt had jumped. They put in new belts, and the car was running better than it had in some time. Well, a week later, it failed to start again, and I had it towed back. The timing belt had jumped again, and they fixed it, rechecked the tensioners, etc., and kept it for two days this time to drive it and make sure it continued to start OK, all at no extra charge. They are competent and honest, and I would gladly recommend them to anyone. (They also have a deal with Enterprise for rentals at reduced rates, which I appreciated.)

Very patient in explaining what they think might be wrong and how to fix. If they aren't sure, they say so. I had a problem with the air suspension in my Explorer which Ford no longer supports for parts. They researched used parts all across the US, discovered that no one will sell them due to insurance concerns (sure made me feel secure driving around). Finally, they located another shop that would convert it to a conventional system. All this effort cost me nothing and they didn't even get the work. Extra effort, extra honest. Be sure to ask about their car care club. It's a good deal if you intend to spend the money to do routine maintenance instead of waiting until it really breaks and calling the Car Guys!

Even though I have moved to Fort Collins (65 miles from Tapps) I still drive to Denver to have my car repaired at Tapps.

I have priced Tapp's against other general maintenance shops as well as Dealers. They consistently beat dealers by 20-30%. I have used them for work on a Dodge Durango, VW Bug, Jeep CJ and Honda Fit. I've never had an issue with their work. They have acknowledged when they couldn't do the work, mainly because the equipment required for the repair is only available at the dealer. They only do the work requested and offer good advice on other issues and upcoming maintenance items. They are never pushy. My only complaint, which goes with any mechanic, is that it always costs too much.
