Joel was awesome! I had neglected my Subaru for quite sometime (I bought it with 115,000 miles 3 years ago and had never had it serviced beyond the occasional oil change, and it was up to 161,000 miles) when my a/c unit failed. He went over the car completely, fixed my a/c by replacing a few valves, seals and recharging it. He explained in detail why my check engine light was on and what might be causing it. He checked my timing belt (looked like it had been replaced just before I bought the car) and pointed out some small oil leaks that will need attention in the future. He also explained some basic maintenance issues with Subarus in general and my car specifically that I can keep my eye out for so I don't end up damaging my lovely car. I highly recommend Alternative Autoworx :-)

I have been going to Joel at Alternative Autoworx for about 8 years now. He works primarily on Subarus but also on other 4WD vehicles. He did such a great job on our Subarus that I started bringing our Toyota 4runner to him as well. The 4runner was "stuck" in 4wd, and no other mechanic in town could fix it for less than $1200...Joel did it for about $250 and actually pinpointed the problem and fixed it correctly the first time. I don't know a more honest or smart mechanic. He is like a Subaru savant! You'd be crazy to bring your car to the dealership or anywhere else. Give A.A a try!

Autoworx is among the best garages in my 40 yrs. of auto ownership. Joel will take the time to explain how your Subaru works. He leaves it to you to decide what repairs you want done. Highly recommended.

My experience with Alternative Autoworx has been terrific. Joel and Greg are very respectful and professional technicians who make time for their customers. I have been here several times with personal-car maintenance questions (i.e. replacing small parts, questions about performance, second-opinions, etc.) and each time, they have made time to squeeze me in and answer all my questions. They specialize in Subarus which is a big plus and have repeatedly been able to answer questions and concerns about my aging Outback. I feel lucky to have a car shop that is honest, fairly priced, and appreciative of repeat customers. I would recommend Alternative Autoworx to any Subaru owner or any car owner who cares about their vehicle.

Alternative (as in, alternative to high prices or dealer costs) Autoworx was recommended to me about five years ago by my husband's co-worker. Specializing in Subarus, but good with other vehicles, Joel is a competent mechanic who takes the time to show us problems and explain the solutions. I've had to have my Legacy towed in a couple of times and he's been Really nice about getting to it right away. Never had to keep it more than a couple of nights, and the price to keep "a car of my vintage" running is very reasonable. When my neighbors got a new Forester, I told them about Alternative Autoworx. Plaques on the wall indicate he's a multi-year asset to the community as well. It's worth it to keep this guy in business, folks.

Joel and crew are great. I wouldn't take my Subaru anywhere else. They are extremely knowledgeable, reasonably priced and always provide a thorough explanation of the problem and work required.
