Scot Hardie does great work and has been reliable and honest in all of my dealings with him.

Art Stange Foreign and Domestic Auto is actually Scott, who bought the shop from the Stange family. Scott is a very trustworthy mechanic -- we have been going to him for nearly 15 years. He explains his estimates, and, if nothing is wrong with the car, he will not charge you. His price is comparable to other shops, but with his honesty, this makes him a much more reliable and price-worthy (non- gouging) choice. I recommend Scott, owner of Art Stange, very highly (he does our church's vehicles, too!). Greg Plant

I was referred to this shop by a friend, and I'm very glad of it. Scot has worked on my '97 Ford van a number of times between 90K and 140K, always delivering good value for money and explaining what went wrong and how it could be fixed inexpensively. Prior to my first contact with Scot, I was quoted $700 by Sunnyvale Ford for a repair. Scot did the same repair for $250. Over the last three years I would estimate that doing business with this shop has saved me quite a bit of money, not to mention the aggravation of dealing with dealership mechanics. (How many dealership mechanics will provide free phone technical support???) Scot and his staff have always been friendly and helpful, and just as important, I've seen them be just as friendly and helpful with other customers. I'm very happy to have discovered cartalk.com's MechX and have the chance to give a stellar reference to Art Stange.

I've been going to ART STANGE for about 5 years now and I don't go anywhere else. Scot, the owner is super-cool and a whiz at diagnostic. I once had a problem with my EGR valve in my GMC truck and other shops were replacing fuel filters, etc., etc. Scot figured it out pretty much right away. I imagine he saves customers a lot of money and time on diagnosing the problem alone. Scot is very professional and absolutely 100% honest in my experience with him. The shop is unfortunately pretty small and the parking sucks, but if you need an honest mechanic that you can build a relationship with or if you have a tricky problem that you have not had good luck getting fixed, go talk to him. I've been sending friends and even strangers there for a few years now, so if you like, feel free to tell him Blake sent you. He should know who I am. Good Luck!

Good Shop! Scott explained things well, gave me a few options, the work was completed on time and as promised. Cost much better than dealer. He had no problem work with a female. I'll return Car talk listener

A friend referred me to Art Stangs about years ago. Scott has seen me through many auto troubles and I believe he has always treated me with honesty, respect, and integrity. His charges are reasonable and significantly more affordable than the dealership. He also helped my daughter sell her 92 Honda Civic.

I'm spending most of the year overseas and was only in town for a week at the beginning of January. When I got into the area, I realized that my brakes were in dire need of repair. Despite the shop being very busy that week, Scot found a way to fit me in, and got my car back into great shape in a day, and at a very reasonable price. He also gave me a ride from the shop to my office when I dropped it off, which was really nice. I'll definitely be taking my car back here for service in the future.
