Hanza kept my 1987 Nissan Maxima going for 200,000 miles. My test of an "honest mechanic" is one that will tell you when a repair is NOT needed and/or suggest a cheaper way to address a problem. Hanza's done that for me on several occasions. He's one of the reasons I stuck with Nissan and got a 1998 Maxima...I know where to go for service.

I found them to be very honest and even told me I didn't need repairs I thought I did. They were very clear about when the car would be ready and it was! They always showed me any worn or broken parts they replaced. I feel they do quality repairs and the prices charged fair and reasonable.

I have been bringing my 1985 Nissan Sentra Wagon to "Honza" for the past 8 years when I moved here. What a find he was! As the earlier reviewers mentioned, he is an honest, master mechanic who runs his own small shop and is involved with every repair. His hours are Monday-Friday and he sometimes works late. More user-friendly hours would wear him out and keep him from his own family! My car now has 200,000 miles on it and it's still humming along like new getting over 30 mpg mixed city/freeway driving. Honza is the reason why. He has done all my oil changes, tune ups and 15,000 inspections. He keeps my car tuned with appropriate and attentive maintenance. He has a computer system that maintains the repair record, so I bring my car in on the oil change schedule and he lets me know when I need tune ups or 15,000-mile inspections. He will explain what is wrong and how to fix it. If he knows of a safe, reliable shortcut or inexpensive solution, he will tell you and let you decide. On the other hand, he will not recommend something that will fail again in a short time. As a woman, I want reliable cars that will not breakdown on a dark and stormy night. Given that the Bay Area is an expensive place to live with high hourly service rates, you will find that Honza is fast and bills the least time that could be expected. All in all, this is the type of mechanic we are all looking for. I just found him by accident. I thought I'd write this so you wouldn't have to rely on the same method!

I found this autoshop using this website and I am thoroughly pleased with the results. I took my 88 Nissan 300ZX in with the check engine light on and an intermittent engine problem. Honza test drove my car and carefully diagnosed the problem. This guy is honest. Even though the on board computer said a sensor needed replacing, Honza didn't think so and didn't want to order the part unless it really needed replacing. Other mechnics would have probably just ordered the part at a cost of ~$300 and I would have never known. As a women who likes to take care of her own car, it is nice to work with a mechanic who talks to you like you have a brain in your head and includes you in on the decision making without scare tactics. My only complaint, and I feel guilty complaining, is that Honza is busy so it took about a week for me to get my car back. I would recommend this shop without reservation to anyone with a Nissan looking for a good shop.

My wife and I went into mourning when we bought our non- Japanese models as we had to stop working with Honza. Nice man, knows his stuff and is more than honest. Years later, I still recommend people to Honza and wish he would work on BMW's! You'd be crazy not to work with him.
