Klaus knows vw's better than anyone. I tried many repair shops around Santa Barbara over the 10 years I lived there - and Klaus was the best hands down. He eats, breaths, and lives among vws. Always he was reasonable and always gave me the pros/cons of what he thought might need to be donw - always at a good price. Everytime he did a great job and had the old parts displayed for me to describe exactly what was wrong. Quite often he'd fix other things while working and not charge me for it (ie: leaky jetta - he resealed some of the door stuff)

Klaus has a really thick accent and is difficult to understand over the phone. He is, however, INCREDIBLE. He is friendly, explains the problem clearly, and has been working on German cars since the beginning of time (or at least for the last 40 years...) I recommend his shop strongly.

Klaus and I have trouble communicating. He is an ancient German immigrant who spends more time inside old VWs than with other humans, and I am a student from a completely different generation. We both repeat ourselves 3 or 4 times over the phone until we understand each other, and sometimes he is hard to reach (he is the only one at his shop). He constantly claims that my cell phone is the reason I can't understand what he's saying. So why do I always take my '88 Jetta there? Because Klaus gets it done, gets it done well, and gets it done cheap. Good honest work and low prices.
