This is a great mechanic to work with. Very knowledgeable and friendly. What I appreciated the most was how well they worked with me in repairing my vehicle. Since it is the only one I own and I live in a different city (shop is "close" to my place of work,) I had to drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the evening. Since the project had to take more than one day (including diagnostics, dis-assembling, and test driving), they were more than happy to have it ready to pick up and drive home in the evening (safely). They were very understanding in that I knew my vehicle well and took my word when they had trouble hearing and feeling the same symptoms. They didn't just give it back to me and say everything was fine. Instead, they kept putting it on the rack, test driving, and asking me questions to make sure that the problem was found.

If you have any transmission problems go to Ron. Three other mechanics in the area told me to go to him when my car's transmission started to act up. He is extremely competent and fair. Although I did not answer the question, I believe he would respond appropriately if they screwed up, just can't see them screwing up.

We have taken 2 Pontiac Fieros and a Pontiac Silhouette to them. All had the same problem and the selenoid was reasonable to repair. Extremely honest and reliable.

Had my 91 Dodge Dynasty in at Tom's Portola Valley Garage to diagnose a transmission problem. Tom told me I needed to replace the transmission and recommended Ron's in Sunnyvale to do the job. I called 2 or 3 other places to check prices on installing a rebuilt tranny, and Ron's was cheapest. A good price plus a recommendation from another area garage was all I needed, and I was not at all disappointed with the service.

I had a 73 olds tranny rebuilt at Ron's but continued to have minor problems with it. After returning a third time he decided to put an off the shelf rebuilt in it. No extra charge. It worked fine from then until I droped it off at the junk yard for other reasons.

After two mechanics claimed my transmission needed replacing ($3600!), I went to Ron's. They were able to repair it for under $1000! 6 months later, my transmission still performs like new.
