I got Mr. Cheng when I my 1978 Toyota Corolla warranty ran out in 1979. (No more need to go to the dealer.) My neighbors had a 1976 Toyota and they had discovered him in the neighborhood. (He calls himself Tom, but, let's show some respect!) Mr. Cheng has had my car ever since, no one touches my Toyota but him and head- mechanic, Jimmy. Mr. Cheng treats me like a real person and and old friend, always explains everything as best he can (I am not terrribly mechanical), shows me things I can do for myself (like airfilters), puts bottles of water and coolant in my trunk, is not above patching things together to get a little more use out of them, and my boyfriend, who is a suspicious sort who scrutinized bills, says Mr. Cheng either charges a fair price, or maybe not enough! He also says Mr. Cheng never seems to take advantage of any opportunity to sell me something I don't need. Mr. Cheng also will sell tires, but tells me I can get them cheaper at a tire store, for example. That should tell you about him. I like him loads. I believe Mr. Cheng especially services American and Japanese cars...but you can always ask, if you have something else. I am pretty sure I have seen VWs there. (I can't tell one car from another anyway.) My car now is 20 years old, has 166k hard mostly-city or else speeding between the big-rigs miles on it, and is still going strong, although the interior looks like heck, of course. (Mr. Cheng does not do seatcovers.) Call for service in advance, if possible, 668-6869 (how can you forget a phone number like that?), and tell him Tessa with the blue Toyota sent you.
