"Strootie" is a real find - an honest, very competent, conscientious, and friendly mechanic. We trust him implicitly, and David gets all our family's business, from classic Mustangs to new cars when they go off warranty. You cannot have a better experience having your car serviced or repaired (unless you really don't WANT to see all the old parts and get the explanation for why they got replaced). ;-) Try him, you'll be happy you did.

David Stroot is the most honest and trust-worthy mechanic I have ever been to. He runs him own shop and is very knowledgable and good. He worked on my piece-of-junk pontiac and kept it running for as long as it was worth, until it finally cave in. He is very reasonably priced. All along he was helpful, timely and just amazingly nice. He's the kinda guy that you just want to bake some brownies for (yes, I'm a girl).

I had a clutch problem and after getting quotes over the phone from several shops, had Dave offer to actually drive my car first before quoting anything. Right away he determined only the pedal had a problem, not the clutch or tranny itself. He fixed it in about 30 minutes, charged me for his time, then did a free computer scan on my engine as well. I think most shops would have done the clutch replacement I was ignorantly looking for, and then charge me the quoted $800 knowing that only the pedal needed fixing. I'm taking my car back to Strooties for all repairs!

I would never take my car anywhere else. This guy is honest and good: I almost feel like we are ripping him off.

Just took my car Nissan Maxima to David. Had problem with a new starter that was replaced in the past 6 months by my previous mechanic shop. They used a rebuild starter from China apparently. Well, it short circuited early one morning when I'm ready to go to work. That really woke me up! It was a Friday. Tried to tow my car to my old mechanic but was beyond my AAA towing limit. Had to find one within my 7 mile radius. Looked at this website to check the reviews of local mechanics and found David's shop with 6 reviews and 8 comments. They were all positive. So got my car towed to his shop. He was able to fix my car in a reasonable time and very reasonable price. He replaced my old Chinese starter with a German built starter (Bosch). The starter he put in even had a two (2) year protection plan from Bosch: "should your Starter or Alternator fail during the next two years, you are eligible for a free jump start, or tow if necessary .... this service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, anywhere in the US or Canada" He even had the registration for this service all filled out, all I needed to do was fill in the blanks and put a stamp on it, then mail. How cool is that. That told me something about him. He was conscientious enough to take the time to do something extra for his client's benefit. David was very straightforward, honest, and he really does tell you like it is. You can tell he loves what he does and that he's concerned about your needs and expectations. It's hard to find an honest and competent mechanic but sometimes you do. That's life!

David Stroot is the best mechanic I have ever known (70 yrs). I have had him maintain all my vehicles for over 15 years. He is very honest and always tells his customers both the problem and his recommendation which may not mean more business for him. I strongly recommend him to all my friends and family. You can't find a better shop in the San Diego area. I live in Alpine and continue to bring all my cars to him.

David Stroot has been my mechanic for 14 years. He prefers to go by David, not Dave. He has a bachelor's degree in business from The University of San Diego. Before I knew him he had a reputation for fine work on classic Ford Mustangs. Before retiring, I had a small fleet of six Ford E-250 heavily loaded, hard driven, refrigerated cargo vans that maneuvered the streets and freeways of San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties. Typically they were driven a thousand miles a week. Safety is a special concern of his, for example, among other things, he installed 'ambulance quality' brakes on the vans. I have seen him work on a wide variety of cars from the inexpensive to high performance. Once I saw him working on a Rolls Royce.

Dave was great. Fixed the problem for a good price. I will be back!
