These mechanics have worked on my Hondas and the Honda of a friend for the last nine years. It is a small, family run operation without any bells & whistles (no loaner cars, etc.) but they have always done the work well, quickly, and inexpensively. One of my Hondas has 234,000 miles and the other has 110,000. Both run flawlessly. My friend's Honda had over 200,000 when she sold it.

I took a Toyota Camry to Western Auto to repair a mystery coolant leak. The mechanic briefly looked under the hood and told me he would replace the water pump for $400. While he was replacing the water pump he found additional leaks under the manifold which cost an additional $600. At this point he told me the leak was fixed and that he had tested it on the freeway. However, on the drive to work smoke began billowing from under the hood and I found that the engine was now leaking more than it had before and now from the radiator. I ended up taking the car to another mechanic shop (Sam Lee Auto Repair) to replace the radiator and they informed me that Western Auto had grossly overcharged and misdiagnosed the problem. What was most distressing about this situation was that these folks kept stringing things along and the did not fix the problem.

Recently moved to San Diego and a co-worker told me about Western Auto Service. I did more research on the internet and finally brought my car in. I had a check engine light on for the longest time, and my smog check was due. I knew it wouldn't pass with the light being on. I made an appointment, and they took care of my car in just a day. Very reasonably priced, but more importantly, they took the time to educate me on the whole repair! Andy (manager) was GREAT! I'd definitely recommend these guys!
