They are very honest and explained a problem very well. They save me some money without replacing the unneccessary part.

They are located at 1922 O St. Sacramento. Paul is the most honest mechanic you could ever have. He will only fix what is broken and nothing else. He'll let you know about upcoming maintenance that is necessary for your car so you can budget for it (for instance, may need new brakes in approx. 5,000 miles). My friend took her car in to Paul's Automotive thinking she needed a new water pump and timing belt and later that morning Paul called her to say that they already did that work about 6 months ago, so nothing was necessary for her car as far as maintenance at this time. Talk about honest! We have been going to him for over 10 years with multiple cars and recommend him to everyone we know. As far as the question about how they respond when they screw up--they don't screw up!

Paul, the owner, is wonderful. But--there seems to be alot of turnover with mechanics. Some are really good, some are not. I had a Dodge Neon I took in for them to look at my oil leak. The mechanic that day said, "It's not leaking that bad." Made me wonder what his driveway at home looks like. You have to make sure Paul knows you're not satisfied. He's very honest, but like I said, you never know who's going to work on your car. The leak never got fixed--I got rid of the car.

The guys at Paul's have worked on my 2000 Ranger twice so far, once for a small electrical problem that they fixed very cheaply, and also for one major service (60,000 miles). Both times, the repairs were reasonably priced, and no attempt was made to sell anything above and beyond what was needed. Truck has been ready on time both visits. I highly recommend this garage!

Paul and his fellows regularly tell me that I do not need to repair things on my car. Maybe later. It's honest, and a good long-term business model.
