Instead of replacing the radiator as originally discussed; he replaced a defective new (Stant) thermostat, cleaned radiator and repaired leak for a reasonable price.

Absolutely awesome folks. First time I brought my car to Jim, he was the fourth or fifth mechanic I'd come to for a quote on a malfunctioning transmission. Every other one insisted that a complete replacement was necessary. He took a look at the car and whatever they did cost me $40 and took care of the problem (I don't remember exactly what it was, since that happened over eight years ago) and I haven't gone to another mechanic since. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

I found this shop 3 years ago when I moved to CA by looking at this website. A "quicky oil change" store said my oil pan needed be replaced right away (due to worn threads not accepting the cap tightly enough), but Davis assessed the situation and said it should be fine for a few more months. It was, then eventually I had it replaced there. I feel like I've been treated fairly and they explain things to me better than any previous shop I've been to.

We have taken more cars to Jim Davis then I like to think about. He has always repaired whatever we have broken, with a smile.

Based on the recommendations of this site, I originally took my Honda Accord to the Sunnyvale Foreign car service in Mountain View. I felt they overcharged for service, and was disatisfied with the repairs. A friend recommended Jim Davis Automotive (Texaco station), and I've been utterly satisfied with the work, price, and service. I highly recommend this place. I never feel they are trying to increase the price, or do unnecessary repairs. They are very honest, and take the time to explain the service required, and they make every effort to save you money. Really incredible.

I was impressed with their great phone and in person manner. I called a few places for an estimate on my sentra's 90K check up and these forlks were the cheapest. After they did the work I was surprised to find I actually paid less than their original quote because they didn't need to do as much for my car. No one tried to put new brake pads or replace who-zi-whats-its or any extra repairs. They told me my car was in great shape and to keep up the good work.

I've taken my car to Jim Davis for almost 5 years. They are good about telling you what repairs you need, and they will also let you know if a used/rebuilt part is an option. One time, I took it there for a transmission fluid leak. They fixed it, but later that day I had trouble. I bruoght it back, they looked it over and admitted they hadn't realized there were 2 leaks (after they found 1st leak, they assumed they had fixed it). Second fix was no charge, and they were really nice about it. I appreciated their honesty.

The only mechanics that made me want to bring in homemade cookies. What a find!

I live in Idaho, and my daughter goes to school in Palo Alto. I just purchased a '91 Honda Accord for her, which immediately developed brake noises. Unfortunately, I have imparted none of my car knowledge to her, so I sent her to Jim Davis based on reviews on this website. He was really great with her - no attempt to fix anything that wasn't needed. Jim even called me (at my request) in Idaho to discuss the problem which turned out to be a frozen brake caliper. He fixed it same day. I am very impressed with his friendliness and professionalism, and I'm convinced he's the go-to guy for her future car problems.
