Steve and Tom are two of the best Technicians I've ever met!!! They have all the factory diagnostic tools for BMW, PORSCHE, VOLVO, AUDI/VW, MERCEDES BENZ, LAND ROVER, GM, FORD, SAAB, ETC. And they know how to use them... Tom also runs Portola Valley Garage up the street. Trust me when I say "you're in good hands at Ladera Auto Works"

Steve helped me get my car through smog. He looked at it first for free, and sent me to a test station he trusted. He told me squarely that I didn't need a bunch of expensive procedures someone else had told me I required. He saved me about $500 right there. He knew exactly how to fix the problem that came up with my car, and did so at a reasoanble price. Since then, I've taken my car back to him whenever other things have come up, and he's done a great job with it. He answered all my questions, and didn't treat me like I was an idiot, even though I'm (1) female, and (2) have never owned a car before. He seems like an all-around great guy. The only slightly less-than-great thing about it is that his shop is a bit hard to get to. You'll definitely need a ride from a friend if you have to leave your car there. Overall, I will definitely go back to Ladera Auto Works when my car needs service in the future, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

Addendum to my previous: I had a problem with some of the bulbs on one side of my car. They are horribly hard to access (under the wire well, and way up inside), and Steve fixed it for free. They wouldn't even let me pay for the parts, saying it was just the kind of thing they do for regular customers.

I've been taking my 1999 BMW 528 to shop owner Steve for over 5 years. Steve is very knowledgeable about BMW and specializes in German cars. He has always been able to properly diagnose the various problems and repair the car in the time committed to. Just recently I had a small problem with my BMW where the interior fan would not turn off-even with the ignition off. I needed to repair this quickly or I would be stranded without a battery. I called Steve on my mobile (NOT while I was driving) and described the problem. He told me the problem was common for year and mileage of my car, told me to drive right over and he could have the faulty electrical component replaced while I waited-which he did. Fantastic service! The other work done by Steve on my BMW include: replacing the clutch, replacing struts and suspension components, maintaining the cooling system and brakes. I highly recommend him and his shop.
