Bill Tagney, the owner/main mechanic at this shop is competent and runs a great business. I would highly recommend his shop to anyone in East County. I have never once doubted his sincerity or honesty.

I've known Bill Tagney for over 10 years! The world needs more mechanics like him! First, let me share the not so good, to get it out of the way, and so you know this is an honest report. Bill has 2 downfalls, first, he will delay giving a customer bad news about their car, but especially when he knows the customer can't afford to have the repair work completed. Bill will especially procrastinate in this situation if the customer is a single woman or a single Mom. Bill's other downfall is that occasionally (okay often,) he falls behind schedule trying to complete projects (that only he can do.) This is because he is too nice a guy when it comes to a few regular customers' habit of visiting the shop to: 1) shoot the breeze or 2) seek advice for some project they might be working on at home. Bill is such a nice guy he has a hard time saying, "Ok, everybody out, I got work to do!" Bill is "unofficially" at the shop nearly every Saturday starting at 7 or 8 am so he can work on large, involved and complicated projects that demand his undivided attention and complete focus. Ok, now the positives... Bill not only treats women honestly and fairly he also treats them as if they have a brain inside their head. Another thing Bill does which I think is unique is if a customer calls to see if another shop is quoting a fair price to perform a service, Bill will tell you the truth. In other words, he won't try and steal your business away from his competitors just to make a buck. Bill truly enjoys designing and developing "projects" with new (and regular) customers because he is truly talented and gifted and he LOVES what he does! Finally, a story: Almost 8 years ago, one night Bill and I were talking over dinner. I asked Bill about his future, and he said, "I've seriously thought about submitting an application and a resume to John Force." I remember just looking at him and thinking to myself, "Oh really? Ha! Yeah, right, You say that as if just anyone could submit an application to go work for John Force..." For those of you who don't know who John Force is, let's just say there are a (small) handful of people in the world qualified to work on an engine belonging to that of a top fuel racing team like the one John Force owns. At first when I heard Bill's answer, I wondered why Bill felt the need to impress me into thinking, "He's so cool." because I already did think he was "cool." I was flattered by what I thought at the time was male bravado. A week or so later while talking to a mutual friend about Bill, I discovered that Bill's answer to my question wasn't unreasonable, because he already WAS a crew member on another top fuel team!

These guys are the real deal! They work on EVERYTHING and they do it well. Hot Rods, Jeeps, general maintenance; you own it, chances are they can fix it. SDSC is also in the project business. Superchargers, lift kits, OEM and performance rebuilds, the list never ends. My Jeep is re-geared and lifted and running great. Bill and Dwight are friendly and never talk down to the customer. On more than one occasion I have been there picking up my car and another customer is bring theirs in because another shop messed up the job. These guys have the skills to fix other mechanics mistakes. Check them out.
