Honest, quick, competent and cheap. Tom at Value Auto is a dream come true for any Volvo owner.

A really nice guy. He goes out of his way to do an excellent job at a fair price. He is the kind of mechanic people dicuss at parties when discussing good mechanics to go to.

Two years ago, in order to pass California smog emission standards I needed a catalytic converter . . . Tom charged me an average of $100 less than the estimates at near-by shops. This year, I failed my smog test again (I've got a pretty old car). Tom adjusted the timing for FREE explaining that he didn't want to charge me in case the vehicle still didn't pass, which it did. After a recent fender bender he gave me a discarded tail lamp housing for free saving me a trip to pick your part. He is the finest machanic I have ever encountered!

I've taken my Volvo there for over a decade and the prices and quality of service is super. Other mechanics I've talked to call him "cheap Tom" but I have the impression it's sour grapes on their part. The materials he has used in my Volvo have it running just fine for over 150,000 miles. He only works four days a week, fishes Fri. thru Sun. He is a "real" person.

Tom's shop is tucked off the beaten track, behind some shops, down a long driveway, next to a Ferrari repair shop. I would have never found him except my old '85 Volvo died one day and had to be towed to a shop within a five mile radius. Tom has always been cheerful, honest, reliable and competant. He has even made minor repairs or adjustments without charging for them. The shop would not win any beauty contests, but my Volvo and I always drive out of there feeling like a million krona. My teenage son has inherited our Volvo and, thanks to Tom, our car still runs! In fact, Tom maintains that old Volvos are great cars for teenage boys because they are sturdy, with reliable engines, and they don't go very fast!

My wife and I have been taking our Volvo to Tom for the past 15 years. He is a wonderful mechanic. He has the nick name, "Cheap Tom." This was given to him by other mechanics in the area. When Tom replaces a part, he finds the most economical part available. His labor rates are the best. Tom is a treasure.

Tom is a godsend for Volvo owners. He is truly "old school" and reminds you of the reliable local mechanic that your parents trusted their car repairs to. I liken Tom to my Grandfather who also owned his independent garage - honest, fair, reliable, trustworthy and does great work...the first time! He has actually talked me out of several more costly repairs. We try to recommend Tom whenever we can. He does not have the most convenient location for us (he is about 10 miles away), but his work is well worth any minor inconvenience for us.
