Scottsdale european has honest, experienced mechanics, who take the time to fix the problem correctly. Their prices are very reasonable by today's standards, and I'd trust them with anything from a simple brake job to a major engine overhaul. They took a Mercedes that I had, which I thought would need major repairs...after being stored way too long, and got it running like-new. They also did an overhaul on my 1954 Buick engine, giving it back its original horsepower, and eliminating all the oil leaks.

I was directed to this shop by the Mechan-X files while I was shopping for a Saab. I had this shop do the pre-purchase inspection ($30), and they gave me a list of things that needed work. I took this back to the dealer who gave me $1300 off the price and offered to have the repairs done at wholesale cost. I had the dealer take it back to Scottsdale European to get the work done. The car required more work than expected. The shop only charged for a fraction of the extra time it took, and threw in rear brake pads at no charge. The mechanic I worked with was the owner, Ike Naftali.

I cannot adequately express what a delightful surprise it was to find Ike at Scottsdale European. My wife and I were looking at a used Mercedes and a used BMW in a city two hours away from where we live. Every mechanic I called to conduct a pre-purchase interview is closed on Saturday - except Scottsdale European. GET THAT? You can't get service on the day that's most convenient for you. When we arrived with the cars for Ike to look over, he moved several cars out of his garage to make room for ours, walked around the inside/outside and opened the hood with both my wife and me standing beside him while he pointed out everything we should be aware of when considering purchase - and making sure we wrote it all down. Then - a lengthy test drive with Ike behind the wheel and both my wife and me in the car, during which Ike saw one of his customers walking down the street and pulled over to offer to drive him the short distance to his home. After the test drive, Ike put the cars up on the rack and continued his thorough review with both my wife and me. Then, after two hours of inspection, Ike wrote up a ticket with all his findings and cost estimates for necessary and optional repairs ... and charged us such a laughably small sum that we left him a 30% tip. In addition to the excellent automotive advice, we got excellent relationship advice from a man married more than 40 years, so we felt as if we were listening to Car Talk.
