This shop is like a oasis in the desert. I am in the auto business myself and recommend this place to my other dealership friends and family.

Not only are Mike and his employees the kind of mechanic that everyone wants to find, but he and ann are really nice people. They support the local Miata club AND their local neighborhood. I send as much business as I can their way, and take my non-Miatas there, because after 6 years, they continue to treat me better than any of the local dealers.

I have 1999 Miata that suffered from a manufacturing defect. Basically, a machining error caused my engine to start coming apart after just 45,000 very gentle miles. Mazda put out a service bulletin (http://www.miata.net/garage/tsb/tip_6_99.html), but never issued a recall and denied any responsibility. I love my Miata, but calls to a couple of dealers yielded repair estimates that far exceeded the value of the vehicle. I was about ready dump it, when my wife suggested I check out the Car Talk mechanics files (always listen to your wife). That's where I found Mike's Place. Mike was able to find a used long block which he essentially refurbished to like-new condition. Along with the engine rebuild, he replaced the entire clutch assembly and the radiator (small crack in the neck) and all for less than half of what the dealers wanted. I picked up my rejuvenated ride this morning, dropped the top, and enjoyed a warm Phoenix late-winter test drive. I'm pretty sure it runs better than it did when it was new and the engine compartment looks like it did in the showroom. Mike took the time to fully explain the detailed service invoice. Repairs were completed within the estimated amount and given the complexity of the job, it was completed in a timely manner. I couldn't not be more pleased.

I had just arrived in Phoenix, last summer, for a two week stay. (Yeah, I know.) After a full day of furniture shopping, and leaving the car running, the AC stopped. I took it to Mike's. He took me home so that they could keep the car there, and then picked me back up at the end of the day. It turns out that there was nothing wrong; it had simply overheated. He would not let me pay him for the time he spent checking it. Very good guy, and fun to talk to on the drives to and from home.

Mike is one of the nicest, most honest mechanics you will EVER meet. He has worked on our Mazdas and Hondas for years and we have NEVER had a complaint. He's honest, will save you money where he can and is a wonderful host - my kids and I were in Phoenix and experienced a car problem while we were near his shop. I called him and asked if he could take a quick look, and he diagnosed my problem right away, fed us all sandwiches (it was lunch time and we were stranded) and explained everything clearly and concisely. Even though he is not the cheapest mechanic in the valley, he is not the most expensive either and the peace of mind you get from going to him is priceless. Keep up the good work, Mike!

Mike is honest, fair, unbiased, reasonable and trustworthy. I moved here and my friend Radio Dave pointed me to Mike as he's been taking his cars to Mike for over 20 years and says Mike is by far the best. Being a female and new to Phoenix, I found Mike to be all that my friend said.

I drive approximately 2200 miles/week. I have been through several cars over the years. I can honestly say that Mike's Place is the best auto mechanic I could have ever hoped for. They have always been kind, reasonably price and they always fix it right the first time when they say they will. Mike once put cruise control in Miata (years ago) and I knew it took alot longer than he expected (several hours into the night) but he never wavered on getting it done and he charged me exactly what he quoted. Mike and Anne will always be a part of my life and I hope they are around for many years to come. Thank you for everything you do.
