These guys are very honest, dependable, and have a very good reputation around town. They help keep a lot of VW's, and especially Beetles like mine, on the road! Their prices are reasonable, though not the cheapest in town. They do the work you ask them to, no more, and make helpful recommendations on how to make your car last longer. They also have a very good parts department.

I've been driving my car for 12 years, and bringing it to Jay Johnson and crew for 9 of those years. I've found their work to be honest, timely and reasonably priced every time. I can count on my car to be repaired the day of its appointment, and usually the bill comes in a little under the pre-repair estimate. Sometimes I find evidence of "extra mile" treatment: the filled wiper reservoirs, or a fallen clutch pad that's been replaced on the pedal. There have been several occasions when Jay has sent me to the dealer for recall repairs I wasn't notified about; he could have easily made the diagnosis and done the repair without saying anything. Jay's honesty has saved me well over $500. The customer area of the shop is clean and comfortable, and the coffee's always on. I'm always treated with respect, and it's evident from other customers who come and go while I'm in the shop that they feel as home as I. I recommend them to all my friends, and those who have taken my recommendation have become faithful customers.

I have given the guys at Johnson Foreign Auto permission to fix and replace parts as they feel necessary. I have done this on multiple occasions. I have been happy with the service because they have not replaced items that don't need to be replaced! Even when I have given them verbal authorization to do so. They specialize in VW and Audi but have done some general repair for my 91 Chevy Astro Van.

When I first moved to Huntsville I went to the local Audi dealership for a repair. They wanted to pull my engine out to see if they could determine the problem... not fix it. That alone would have cost $1000. I then brought my car to Johnsons and they drove it around the block and determined I had a short and fixed the problem the same day and saved me my 1000 dollars. I think with labor and parts it was less than 80 bucks. I have known of additional repairs that my car has needed, but when I discussed it with Johnsons, they told me it wouldn't be worth the cost vs value of the car to have the repairs done. Talk about honest! They don't just work on Audis and VWs either!

I have had alot of needed replacement parts for my 92' Jetta and they have awways been there to get me the parts I need, even if it requires me to walk behind to counter and show them on the computer A+

With an '86 VW Golf at 230K miles, I need a dependable honest mechanic. Jay Johnson and crew at Johnson Foreign Auto have been there for me for longer than I can recall. In one instance, I heard an intermittent noise coming from the back of the car. Jay diagnosed the problem as the in-tank fuel pump. He suggested I check with VW since there had been a recall on that item, which resulted in getting the work done by the dealer at no cost to me. He could have done the work, gotten the money and I'd never have known...but he didn't. Jay has always been quick with a diagnosis, on time with the repairs, and at or below his estimate. He's a pleasure to do business with, and I give him the business whenever I can. I'm a shamelessly biased customer and will remain one as long asI drive a car and he is in business!

We moved to Huntsville and needed some work done on our cars. We both had VW's at the time. Jay Johnson is a friggin honest guy and he not only fixed our car problems, but one of our problems was an ignition coil. He told me where to get a new one and how to replace it, it was a real easy fix and he didn't think it would be right to charge me for it, so he just told me how to do it. This guy is amazing, they are an amsoil dealer also, I buy all my oil from them, they know how to work on VW's, I'm very impressed.

Johnson Foreign Auto has been working on my VWs for many years. They have seen my 1991 Jetta GLI, 2002 GTI, and 2003 GTI. They know what they're doing and take the time to explain it to you. In addition to service, I have bought many parts from them and they are generous with installation advice.

The guys at Johnson Foreign Auto originally worked on only German autos like my spouse's Audi. I own a Miata and a Jeep that they originally directed to other shops for service. Recently they have opened their arms to makes from other lands and I am very pleased. They do professional work that is on time, honest and reasonably priced-but not cheap. You get what you pay for and peace of mind is a vague concept to price. The shop gets four stars from a loyal customer.
