I was traveling from Memphis to Florida for a new work assignment in my fully packed 1990 Ford Aerostar, I mean really packed. Just north of Montgomery I started hearing a screeching from one of my wheels. Time is always of the essence... I didn't need this! I pulled off and kicked the tire...it stayed on. So I kept going and so did the screeching. Got off highway in Montgomery and drove up and down looking for a shop but just didn't have a good feeling and the noise was coming and going....so back on the highway. Couple exits south I pulled off at a rural exit and, believe it or not, asked the ladies at the BP if they knew of a mechanic close by, one directed me down the road. Now...I grew up in Miami and consider myself a Southerner but I sound more like I'm from NY/NJ and we're just outside Montgomery, AL. Anyway I rolled down the road and there it was on the left - A's Auto & Wrecker Service and James Mims - owner (volunteer fire rescue guy), so I pulled in with my Florida tags and my Yankee brogue. I explained my situation (after he told me it'd be a couple days before he could fit me in), that I was headed home, etc. He determined it was the baring, called to price part, ran that by me, had it run over asap, fixed my car in the drive way (all the bays were full) and I was back on the road in less then 2 hrs. He could have stuck me bad!! But he's not that kind of guy...you can tell. His shop (4 bays) was very organized and spotless and I'm happy to take these few moments to write this up on his behalf...I'll never see him again. Ron Ozier
